(Comments from our Basic Youth Work volunteer training)
Wiltshire Youth for Christ is able to offer Basic Youth and Children’s Work Training for volunteer youth workers. We deliver three sessions, which can either be delivered as a one day training session or over three sessions in the evening. Based on The Key Training the sessions include:
- Introduction to youth and children’s work – this session explores the values and priorities behind why we do youth and children’s work giving time and space for you to reflect on the values and priorities from your perspective
- Basic safeguarding training – this session includes a look at health and safety, how to build a project or programme which put safeguarding of children at it’s heart and child protection and how to respond to and address child protection issues
- Responding to challenging behaviour – this session takes a look at the types of challenging behaviour faced in youth work, how to build a programme that limits the possibility of difficult behaviour and what to do should it occur
All sessions are interactive involving group work and opportunities to discuss the issues that arise with other present. We are happy to deliver the training to one organisation / church or a group of organisations. From time to time Wiltshire Youth for Christ arranges training days and these will be publicised when dates are made available. Our next day of training will be from 9.30-1pm on a Saturday in September (TBC). If you are interested in the training please click here and email us.
