I am writing to let you know that I will be moving on from Bath and Wiltshire Youth for Christ in the spring. After 14 years of leading Bath and Wiltshire YFC, I will be leaving to take up the post of CEO at a Christian Mission and Aid Charity.

Rather than simply write a couple of lines in the newsletter I wanted to write to you and thank you for your support and prayers for, and interest in, the work of Wiltshire YFC during my time as Director.

I would like to start by thanking the charity’s Trustees, past and present, who have believed in, backed and encouraged me throughout my tenure. I am also incredibly grateful to the staff team who I have had the privilege of leading over the years and our Advisory Group who have been a specific support in Wiltshire.

Since taking up the post of Director in 2005, it has been a privilege to be part of God’s work in Bath, Wiltshire and further afield. I have considered it such a joy to work alongside a great staff team, trustees, volunteers and you as a partner. It has been amazing to work among young people in Wiltshire and see their lives changed. Your support has enabled us to do so much over the years, from school assemblies and Pop-Up cafes to GSUS Live, mentoring and resourcing youth ministry in churches and communities around the area. It has been such a blessing to be part of the wider Youth for Christ family and I remain a committed supporter of Youth for Christ and our mission to see the lives of young people changed by Jesus.

I would like to take this opportunity to ask you to continue to support, pray and encourage the staff and trustees at Wiltshire YFC, particularly during this time of transition but also as the team moves forward. I know God has good plans for the work in the years ahead.

I will be working until late March, when I will be taking a few weeks off before starting in the new role in mid-April. If you do want to get in touch, I will be available on james@wiltshireyfc.org.uk until the 22nd March.

I finish with a verse from scripture that was given to me by a local church leader and has been important personally during my time with YFC. In Colossians 1:11-12 Paul writes: “May you be made strong with all the strength that comes from the glorious power, and may you be prepared to endure everything with patience, while joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light.”

This is my prayer for the team at Wiltshire YFC and for you for 2019.

Every blessing

James Vaughton
