At Wiltshire Youth for Christ we believe the local church is vital in sharing and being the gospel with young people and that the local church is integral to the discipleship of young people. With this in mind we look to work with local churches wherever possible.

Wiltshire Youth for Christ is able to offer a range of support in helping your church engage with local young people. This could range from you booking us to run an event with you, to a partnership where we employ and manage a worker who is involved in youth work in your community. Ideas could include:

  • Consultation for and support through a youth worker recruitment process
  • A Wiltshire Youth for Christ staff member on your interview panel
  • Wiltshire Youth for Christ working in partnership with your church to employ a youth worker
  • Supporting a local mission
  • A partnership youth or schools work project

When asked about Youth for Christ’s involvement in a local church here is what one local church youth leaders said.

“In September 2011 our Children and Youth team felt that God was calling us to meet a village need for a youth club in Bathford.  We invited Youth for Christ to help us out and our PCC agreed to fund Youth for Christ to provide training and guidance.  James ran training evenings, prayed with us, and after the initial trial evening suggested that actually we had all we needed to go forward with our own team!  What a steep learning curve we have had, but the results speak for themselves; on the first week we had 20 children, we are now a month in and are up to 37!! Thank you God and thank you Youth for Christ!”

If you would like to find out more about how we could support your local church in working with young people please get in touch with James, via the Wiltshire Youth for Christ office.

To help local churches support our work we have a church pack, which includes a cover letter, standing order form and posters that can be displayed in the church.
